40 years André Nollet cartoons |

André Nollet was born in Wervik (Belgium) in 1946 where he learned to draw and write with the slate-pencil in the local school. At the St.-Amandscollege in Kortrijk he was teached Greek and Latin and it was at St-Lucas that he could perfect his drawing talent. Since 1982 he is a teacher in publicity design at the Karel de Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp. In 1986 he starts his own creation office “Nollet Cartoons & Creatie”. He has specialized in thinking up and performing campaigns concerning security, environment, sensitisation, anti-harassment,… and he elaborates this campaigns with cartoons. His range of art activities includes also the development of advertisements and printings. From 1980 until 1999 he was the sports cartoonists of the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad and he was the spiritual father of Oscar PALMKES, published in every Flemish newspaper between 1987 and 1998. He invented also the series “Krol & Brol” for the Stipkrant and “Toontje & Denise” for the monthly Raak. | |||
From the end of 1999 he draws daily cartoons for the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, the local news of the region of Ghent being in the centre of interest. From May 2002 he is drawing every week cartoons in ‘t Pallieterke, in succession to his good friend Brasser. He worked as cartoonist for different companies such as Electrabel, Quickstep, Volvo Cars, also for the Belgian railways and Belgian syndicates. For years he is the president of the Euro-Kartoenale contest.
